Today’s Rambling Thoughts

• I woke to the sound of the heater running. We set the thermostat at 64 degrees so l knew it had to be cold. I looked out the bedroom window to clouds hanging over the hillside across the valley. I could just make out the light dusting of snow. I got up and headed for the living room for a better look. DH said the thermometer hanging out on the deck read 30 degrees, so if it rained, we’d have snow. It seems a bit strange to go from the hot temperatures of Apache Junction (low 90’s last week) to 30 degree cold with snow visible. But I like it… I love both places for each of them has their own unique lifestyles.
• Yesterday, as I sat on the couch reading, I stopped and looked out the sliding glass doors. I marveled at the gorgeous view we have. I listened and realized that all I heard was a soft white noise from traffic on the highway across the valley. I told DH (who was sitting in his chair reading) that I realized that the thing our home here offered was complete privacy and solitude. Although I love the friends and the activities that go with our home in Arizona, the peace and serenity of our home in Tehachapi makes me more centered and aware, mentally. Two very diverse styles of life. I’m active in the community in both places; volunteering is a part of who I am. 
• I see that this post is ‘bulleted’ — this was not by choice. The bullet was there when I began to type, so I just left it. It makes this post unique from my previous ones, which is kind of the way I feel this morning. Anticipation of re-connecting with friends here in Tehachapi, and enjoying the beauty that surrounds us. Life is good.
