My quilting friend here in Tehachapi took a class recently on a type of sewing called Needle Turn Applique. My previous step-mother-in-law made a number of quilts with appliqued and embroidered elements. I was able to finish one of her UFO quilts after she passed away in 2000. A different friend helped me finish the quilt by showing me how she stitched elements on. The technique she used wasn’t the same as the one I’m using now. There is no right or wrong way to do things. It’s only important that you do your best.
I can see that I have to be very careful about creating puckers as I stitch. The area along the outside from the bottom of the heart and moving along the upper left side is where I’ve begun. The thread is laying where I took my last stitch. I’ll need two of these hearts made for the Christmas themed table runner I’m making. One of these heart blocks will be at either end of the runner, with my Christmas fabric Bento Box block in the center. The hearts will have flowers, stems and leaves added, and a button for the center of each flower. It should be very nice.
Here’s the Bento Box block again.
That’s really all the news I have to share right now. I’m making progress on a quilt, but can’t say anything about it just yet. When I get it finished and delivered to the recipient, I’ll post photos and tell the story behind the quilt.
Till then, be safe, be well, and please be happy. Know that you are loved and wherever you are in life, remember to tell those you love that you love them.
