Better late than never

I’m more than a bit late for my monthly installment here on WordPress, but I have a very valid excuse — I fell at the end of August and broke my right shoulder and cheekbone. Consequently, I couldn’t type –heck I couldn’t even hold a pencil for weeks! I’m getting there physically — started physical therapy yesterday — learned a whole new level of OW! and today I’ve been a very good patient and have already done my exercises. The therapist said I should expect to hurt. Oh yeah??? LOL But, she cautioned, you’ll eventually get better and once you get everything moving again, you won’t hurt anymore. Sounds good to me.

We have very good friends here in Tehachapi and for the first couple of weeks they brought over meals and sent cards and called to check up on me. Amazing friends… excellent cooks too, I might add.

Our weather is getting colder by the day — and since I’m caught up in physical therapy appointments, we can’t leave for Arizona until I’m all finished and released by the Orthopedic Surgeon. Drat and darn. We’re missing our friends there at Roadhaven, and they’re missing us. One neighbor called the other day to see when we would be arriving. He said there weren’t enough people there to make up a beer drinking party and he needed us to get our booties over there pronto! Robert laughed and said we’d be going as soon as I got clearance from the dr. to travel.

Other than my shoulder and the ongoing pain, I’ve done battle again with our HP C309a printer. It is such a pain — I have all new ink cartridges in it and I can’t get it to print black text or black anything for that matter. I know it has to be some kind of software glitch, but I can’t find it, so I did the next best thing — I ordered a new printer online. And I ordered a double set of ink cartridges to go with it. Hee’s hoping it works better than what I have now.

Not much else to report — The garden railroad needs a couple more scoops of decomposed granite (aka DG) which we will order next week. Then the layout will sit over the winter and ‘settle’ in.

Be safe, be well and please be happy. Happiness is a state of mind… bring it on!

About tehachap

The easiest way to define myself is as a very happily married woman with two sons and two grandsons. My hobbies include reading, writing, sewing, trains (watching, photographing and running them in G scale), and travel. My husband and I are retired and we spend our winters in Arizona. I used to own a secretarial and desktop publishing business, but closed it when my husband retired in 1999. We have truly enjoyed our retirement years, and have fulfilled one of our primary goals in life and that is to own a home overlooking train tracks so we can watch trains 24/7. We are sincerely blessed in this life.
