The mountains across the valley are dusted with snow this morning. It’s hazy in the valley and 29 degrees on the deck. We had a bit of snow yesterday afternoon. Although we  enjoy watching it snow, we sure don’t care for the cold air that comes with it.

The New Year is fast approaching and it seems everyone is coming down with a cold or respiratory bug. Robert was down with a sore throat yesterday evening and this morning a friend called to say he wasn’t going to go into the Depot today. Robert and several other guys work at the Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum on Tuesdays, repairing whatever needs fixing, and restoring artifacts that have been donated.

A lot of businesses are shutting down for the week, forcing employees to take vacation days if they want to get paid. If they don’t have enough vacation days to last the week, then they’ll be off without pay. I’m so very grateful that Robert and I are retired.

Be safe, be well, and please be happy. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them, and if they have been sneezing or have a runny nose, tell them from about 4 feet away!

About tehachap

The easiest way to define myself is as a very happily married woman with two sons and two grandsons. My hobbies include reading, writing, sewing, trains (watching, photographing and running them in G scale), and travel. My husband and I are retired and we spend our winters in Arizona. I used to own a secretarial and desktop publishing business, but closed it when my husband retired in 1999. We have truly enjoyed our retirement years, and have fulfilled one of our primary goals in life and that is to own a home overlooking train tracks so we can watch trains 24/7. We are sincerely blessed in this life.
