Our weather was truly strange yesterday. We had sunshine, rain, clouds, and fog, all in one day. This morning, the sun is shining and there’s a few clouds in the sky, but nothing angry looking at all. The photo below was taken yesterday afternoon. The lights in the sky aren’t a UFO, but merely a reflection of the fan/light in the ceiling of my office. But they sure look like a UFO, don’t they?? LOL

Today is a fairly busy day — breakfast this morning with the Depot Signal Crew group and then a Loose Threads quilters meeting this afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

We’re making progress getting materials for the railroad. We should receive a shipment of track today, and on Sunday, we’ll meet up with our younger son and take delivery of five cement chimney liners. We use the liners as a tunnel for the railroad. The first tunnel is at the first corner of the layout. Hard to put into words, but the track will come out of the house, span the walkway and onto the layout for a straight section and then pass into a tunnel as it goes around the corner and heads for the straightaway to the right. We’ll partially bury the liners/blocks in the DG, and cement the track onto the inside of the blocks.

This photo is of the blocks that our son Richard is buying for us. We’ll meet up with him and our niece on Sunday. They’ll drive north and we’ll drive south. When we reach mid-point in the drive, we’ll find a restaurant to meet at. We’ll have a nice meal, exchange the blocks and visit. Not a bad way to acquire materials for the layout!!

My niece helped me get my DNA tested a few weeks ago through 23andMe.com . There are a number of other organizations/companies who offer genetic testing, but I opted to go with this one. My niece has signed up with three different DNA testing sites, but then she’s searching for long lost relatives. For myself, I was just curious about my ancestral make-up. Fascinating…turns out I’m 55% British-Irish. No wonder I like anything British or Irish!! LOL I guess I’m going to be spending more time on the computer working on my genealogy. Our younger son is having his DNA tested, as is my eldest half-sister’s son. It should be very interesting to learn what their DNA looks like.

On other fronts, I worked on the quilt for the Depot gift shop and managed to get the binding attached and pinned, ready for hand sewing to close up the edge of the quilt. It’s going to look really nice, as I found some red with tiny white polka dot fabric in my stash that almost matches the red polka-dot fabric areas in the quilt. It will look really nice when it’s finished. I’ll take it with me tonight to the quilt meeting and start the final hand stitching there.

Not much else to report, so will close this with blessings to all. Be safe, be well, and please be happy. Be sure to tell those you love that you love them.
