The photo above is of the pier at Avila Beach. It was taken this past weekend when we spent a very relaxing time at a bed and breakfast in Santa Maria, CA. The B&B was recommended to us by friends and once I checked the place out online, I decided we needed to treat ourselves by taking a mini-vacation. The French Country Casita  was all it appeared to be and more from the online photos. French Country Casita

We’ll be sure to return in the future for another wonderful time.

While touring the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum, we asked if there were any nurseries in the area. By great coincidence, there was an ACE hardware store nearby that had a nursery area. We drove over and did a bit of plant shopping for the railroad.

We were very pleased with the selection of plants, many of which I recognized from the plants used on our first garden railroad. The only thing I wasn’t able to find was a pink Breath of Heaven. They had white ones, but I really preferred the pink. I might be able to order it through Home Depot. We shall see. Meanwhile, we’ll have to get out and get some potting soil and a load of DG for the low areas of the layout.

Have a good day; be safe, be well, and please be happy. Remember to tell those you love that you love them. Happiness comes from within . . .

What a wonderful selection. 🙂 Now how will you keep them small.

We’re both doing fine. The plants will always be small — they may spread (groundcovers), but they’ll always have tiny leaves. The trees will be kept small by pruning — I took a Bonsai class years ago and so we’ll be keeping the trees trimmed to keep them at the right size/shape for the layout. I was very pleased that we found such a nice selection of ground covers. They really add dimension to the layout. Great fun!

Blogs are just online journals. No, Facebook isn’t the place for those involved bits of life, but this is a good place to write them out. Hugs from here.
